We Play Green had a great weekend connecting with some terrific green football initiatives in the UK.
The weekend started off with a very good meeting with the Forest Green Rovers and their chairman, Dale Vince. There were many great conversations about how the world’s greenest football club and the world’s first player-driven environmental foundation can collaborate, especially regarding our Player Program.
Next on the agenda was a meeting with representatives from the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP). We got a chance to discuss how we can collaborate in the future and how we can participate in their new Sports for Nature program.
The UN Sports for Nature sets a baseline for nature-conscious work in the sports worldas it demonstrates the unprecedented reach sports has on the globe, as well as the codependence between nature and sport.
Last but not least, WPG got to meet up with the lovely founder of Pledgeball, Katie Cross, to discuss ways in which we could collaborate on fan engagement.
All in all, 2023 looks like a very busy and very green year!
