Bienta and the Community Cleanup Crew: Fighting Plastic Pollution, One Sunday at a Time
While inspiring young athletes, our #2Ambassador Binta is deeply concerned about the environmental challenges facing her community, such as poor waste management and deforestation.
Every Sunday, Bienta and nine others from her community head out with gloves and bags to collect discarded plastic. This plastic doesn’t just clutter the streets, it also hurts the environment. Why is plastic bad? When dumped on the ground, it stops the soil from being healthy and makes it harder for things to grow. Plus, lightweight plastic can easily flow into rivers and oceans, where it can harm fish and other animals who mistake it for food. That’s why Bienta and the crew are making a difference. They collect the plastic and take it to recycling companies where it gets a new life instead of ending up in landfills or harming wildlife.
Here’s how you can join the fight against plastic pollution:
Use less plastic: Choose reusable bags and bottles whenever you can.
Recycle right: Learn what types of plastic your local recycling program accepts.
Spread the word: Talk to your friends and family about why reducing plastic is important.
Join a cleanup: Participate in your community’s efforts to keep our environment clean.
We are incredibly proud to have Binta on our team as a #2Ambassador. We celebrate her leadership and the positive impact she and her team are making. By taking action, we can all contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
