We Play Green is ecstatic to announce that Brazilian football player, Marcelo Vieira, will join our team of engaged football players as an ambassador!

Marcelo is best known for his long-lived career with Real Madrid, winning 6 La Liga titles, 5 Champions League titles, and being hailed as one of the greatest left-backs in the world.

The 34-year-old is still making an impact on the pitch by playing for Olympiacos FC in Greece. Off the pitch, he’s the co-founder of Academy 12, a football school whose mission is to develop and positively influence the individual capabilities and creativity of children and adolescents through football.

To strengthen his impact off the pitch, Marcelo has decided to join the WPG team to continue his advocacy work to talk about the impact of the climate and the environment.

“I am very concerned about the climate and nature and am impressed by the work Morten and We Play Green is doing to save us and the planet,” he told NRK.

With almost 17 years of experience as a professional player and an expansive following of over 60 million people, players like Marcelo have a massive potential of using their platform to create support for the Green Shift.
